Tree Stump Grinding

Suncoast Tree Service is ready to make those pesky stumps and surface roots disappear. We do not run a “Grind and Go” operation. We take the time to protect sensitive areas, mark underground utilities, and clean-up the wood chips produced from grinding stumps.

  • There is a $120 minimum on stump grinding. This may cover several small to medium stumps. Large stumps may exceed $150 each. Clean-up of large stumps is usually an additional charge.

  • Stump size can be catergorized as small, medium, large, and enormous. You can take a tape measure across the stump from root flare to root flare.

    • Small - under 12”

    • Medium - 12” to 20”

    • Large - 20” to 4 feet

    • Enormous - over 4 feet

Three Step Stump Removal Process

  • 1. Prepare the Area

    Mark underground utilities like cable lines, irrigation, water, and gas. Protect sensitive areas from flying debris with barriers and ground mats.

  • 2. Thoroughly Grind the Stump

    Grind down the entire stump, including surrounding surface roots. How far down? Usually 4-6” below grade, but as deep as 24” when necessary.

  • 3. Clean-up the Mess

    The grinding is the easy part. Cleaning up the heap of mulch left behind is where the work is. We can either scoop it up and haul it away, or put it in your plant beds.
