Tree Removal and Stump Grinding

Removing Unwanted Trees with Ease!

When it comes to removing problem trees, Suncoast Tree Service has you covered.  We handle everything from identifying hazardous trees, to securing permits, to fast, efficient tree and stump removal.

Featuring our grapple saw crane truck which doesn't just cut down trees, it cuts down prices $$$.  Robotic tree removal dramatically reduces costs on time, labor, and insurance.  We pass the savings on to you.

    • Dead Trees

      • Dead trees top the list of removals.  Many slash pines have been stressed from hurricane winds and fallen prey to pine beetles.   Dead trees quickly fall apart in our warm climate and are best removed right away.

    • Hazardous Trees

      • Some trees like laurel oaks have a short life span and are prone to decay.  Mature trees may appear healthy  but have internal rot and pose a serious risk.

      •  Suncoast Tree Service  is trained in detecting tree hazards and holds the Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) administered by the International Society of Arboriculture.

    • Invasive Trees

      • There is a list of trees that have been designated as "invasive" and bad for the environment like the Australian pine, Brazilian pepper and Carrotwood tree.  Visit the tree identification guide to find the common Sarasota invasive trees.

    •   Wrong Tree in the Wrong Place.

      • Builders often plant large tree species on small lots.  They can quickly outgrow their space causing major problems.   A tree can do damage from above and below the ground.  Aggressive roots can buckle sidewalks, crack driveways, and destroy plumbing.  Also, trees are messy.  It is estimated that a mature oak tree can produce over 10,000 acorns during a mast year.

    • Tree removal permit criteria depend on where the property is located. The City of Sarasota and unincorporated Sarasota County have mutually exclusive tree permit removal requirements.   Here is a summary of the ordinances:

      • Unincorporated Sarasota County

        • Residential Properties (Must be owner occupied)

          • NO PERMIT REQUIRED except for "Grand Trees" (Really big live oak trees)

        • Commercial Properties

          • PERMIT REQUIRED except for dead trees and invasive species.

      • City of Sarasota

        • Both Residential and Commercial properties

          • PERMIT REQUIRED for all trees over 4.5" wide at the trunk, including dead trees and invasive trees.  Only exception is citrus trees where no permit is required for removal.

    • Suncoast Tree Service handles the permit process at no extra cost.  With a Certified Arborist on staff,  we often have the authority to bypass the permit process altogether.  We can also provide HOA's tree reports when requested.

    Warning!

Stump grinding services are notorious for leaving a giant mess left on your lawn, covering up an incomplete stump with broken irrigation lines.  Do not be a victim left with a cut cable wire and no internet!

Call Suncoast Tree Service.  Here's our three step process:

    1. Prepare the Area

      • Know what's underground

      • Call 811 to mark underground utilities including cable ,water, and gas lines.

      • Protect sensitive areas from flying debris with barriers and ground mats.

    2. Grind the Stump

      • Grind down the entire stump, including surrounding surface roots.

      • How far down? Usually 4-6” below grade, but as deep as 24” when necessary.

    3. Clean-up the Mess

      • The grinding is the easy part. Cleaning up the heap of mulch left behind is where the work is.

      • We can either scoop it up and haul it away, or put it in your plant beds.

    • Robotic tree removal refers to a specialized crane truck fitted with a log grapple that has a built-in chainsaw.  It allows the operator to reach to top of trees, grab and cut branches or entire tree tops weighing thousands of pounds and carefully place them on the ground, or feed them into a chipper.
